about the artist:
My creative pursuit began in my early 20's when I earned a BFA from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia. Although my major was painting I soon discovered it was not the medium for me. I went back to school at Syracuse to earn my masters degree in special education and taught for 20 years in inner city Syracuse schools. During this time I dabbled in weaving, stained glass, quilting, basket weaving and a flurry of other things.
It was about a dozen years ago when I learned my first beadweaving stitch and discovered my passion for beads. Beads are seductive, ancient and universal expressions of beauty, spirituality and mystery. There are hundreds of kinds, thousands of combinations and endless possibilities for creative expression. Most of my pieces are done with a needle and thread one bead at a time. I am always excited to start a new piece to see where the beads will take me next!
