The dictionary definition of massage is: "manipulation of the tissues (by rubbing, kneading or tapping) for theraputic purposes." Now that's the bare bones interpretation, massage is far more.
Over the millennia, massage has morphed and has been replicated many times, far too many to list here. The number of different modalities is simply astounding and worth exploring.
In so far as what one would experience at Innergy Works, the massage is eclectic and therapeutic in approach as well as application.
Techniques
Deep Tissue or Neuromuscular Massage
Massage executed for specific purpose involving rubbing, shifting of tissues, stripping of tissues, stripping and relief of trigger points (specific sore soft tissue points found throughout the body)
Muscle Release
A technique developed by Michel Young, involving direct massage with stripping of the muscles while takign the affected muscle thorugh range of motion. The client is passive while the therapist does what ever movement is required to achieve optimal results.
Swedish Massage
A techniqe designed to relax the client and enhance a feeling of well being. Swedish can be regarded as therapeutic because it can ease blood pressure, enhance circulation and increase lymphatic flow. This technique has a well deserved reputation as "soothing the fevered brow."
Hot Stone Massage
The technique employes the use of "hot stones" (smooth volcanic rock) heated just enough to really relax the muscles either in specific placement or as the therapist massages with the stones. The hot stones can also be used as heat therapy prior to "going into" a tight muscle group

I was both the event massage therapist as well as the first aide person. The ambiant temperature was 92 with a heat index of 120.
