I was introduced to clay by following my wife to a lesson. This was in 1972 and Iíve been at it ever since. I studied privately, and then obtained an Art degree from James Madison University. I potted in Virginia until the early 80ís, when I returned to the upstate area to help run the family dairy farm that I was raised on. Ceramics has always been a part of my life and in 2005 I returned to it full time. My work is grounded in the traditional forms that potters have been making for centuries, and it has been the refinement of proportion and glaze that has been my goal.
